Preparing for work

In the week 18-22 November last effort for removal of invasive plant species from Pomorie Lake site was made. Conservation experts and volunteers managed to clear 0,7 ha of the banks of the lagoon that were invaded by Indigo bush (Amorpha fruticosa). This busg species is very persistent and adaptive to wide envirnmenatl conditions. As we have found out it can sustain even the hypersaline conditions of the Pomorie coastal lagoon and the dry and arid conditions of the adjacent sand dunes. Both habitats are listed in Annex I of EU Habitats Directive and invasive plant soecies pose a threat to their natural state.
