On specific request the details of MC-SALT project have been provided to the STAGES consortium. The STAGES survey approached project coordinators from around 4,000 marine research activities with public European and national funding with a response rate of circa 32% (around 1,200 replies), from which 20% indicated relevance to the implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) and achievement of Good Environmental Status (GES) in European waters. As a result the data of MC-SALT project are now available on the Marine Knowledge Gate—a major ongoing web portal of marine research projects in Europe. Even if the project Mc-Salt is not a marine research project, however as results foreseen two outputs that are defined by the Consortium Stages as "Knowledge Ouput".

The project LIFE10NATIT000256 "Environmental Management and Conservation in Mediterranean coastal lagoons and salt works" is started. The partner are Ente di Gestione per i Parchi e la Biodiversità – Delta del Po as Coordinating beneficiary, and as Associated beneficiaries: Consorzio del Parco Naturale Regionale Molentargius-Saline; Parc naturel régional de Camargue; Green Balkans NGO; Compagnie des Salins du Midi et des Salines de l'Est; Tour du Valat. The Municipality of Cervia is co-financer of the project.
The targeted saltworks are Natura 2000 sites, dedicated to the conservation of habitats and species at conservation risk in the European Union.
The project actions, for a total amount of about € 4.900.000 will restor and improve the water circulation in the targeted saltworks, Another project result will be the definition of a management model of saltworksin complete harmony with the requirements of of the protected areas, plus the definition of guidelines for the mitigation of herring gull disturbance and the improvement of tourist visit in the environment.
